Islamabad: Chaos erupted in the National Assembly on Monday as members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a noisy protest during the federal budget speech delivered by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

According to details, the session had barely begun when PTI lawmakers chanted slogans — including mocking cries of “Laila” — and carried posters featuring images of goat kids, apparently as part of a symbolic protest.

PTI members also banged budget copies on their desks and tore up official documents in a dramatic show of defiance. The uproar intensified in the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as opposition members shouted slogans and disrupted proceedings throughout the minister’s address.

Despite the ruckus, Finance Minister Aurangzeb proceeded with his budget presentation, expressing gratitude to coalition partners and emphasising the significance of the fiscal plan. “This budget is being presented at a very critical and historic juncture,” he said. He also extended congratulations to Pakistan’s military and political leadership for recent successes against India.
